The Chi Eta Chapter of the Phi Alpha Honor Society at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é promotes high academic achievement within the School of Social Work. We support superior educational and ethical standards among our social work students. Membership is open to both undergraduate and graduate social work students who meet the established scholarship qualifications. Students ranking in the top 35% of their program (BASW or MSW) and having completed 37.5% of the program requirements, including nine social work credits are eligible to apply. Qualifying students will be invited to apply in the fall and spring semesters. Members are expected to attend the induction ceremony and two (2) meetings and/or participate in two (2) activities during the academic year. Members of the Social Work Student Association take an active role in the leadership of the organization. They work to develop effective and meaningful service and fund-raising activities that benefit the larger community. It's not all work though! Members also find time to participate in fun activities to help foster a strong connection among students. Be on the lookout for announcements in your University email! The purpose of the Asian Student Social Workers (ASSW) is to promote networking and connection amongst social work students and social workers of API backgrounds. ASSW also serves to raise awareness of the social and community-related issues facing Asian Americans. In addition, ASSW serves as a safe space for API social work students to build community with each other.

Social Workers for Racial Justice is a club founded and led by Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é social work students to educate, elevate, and empower the community in a safe and inclusive space. The club mission is to dismantle systemic racism and white supremacy by facilitating anti-racist conversations that address the reality of race-related stigma. Through advocating for justice for Black, Indigenous and People of Color, the club members work towards developing a campus and community that embraces diversity and encourages change.

Purpose

The NIA Mentoring Initiative is focused on increasing the success and retention of students of color within SUSSW by providing a forum for exploring and sharing their unique college experiences. Furthermore, the initiative provides social support and promotes professional development among participants. The title NIA comes from the 5th principle of Kwanzaa which means Purpose. We focus our collective work on building and developing community and professionalism.
