Suffrage on Maryland's Eastern Shore

Suffrage on Maryland's Eastern Shore examines the campaign for women's voting rights. The purpose of this exhibit is to bring attention to an often overlooked element of Eastern Shore history. By examining how suffragists on the shore campaigned for the vote, struggled with opposition, and engaged with the community, we can see that the suffrage movement had a strong presence on the shore.

This exhibit was created in Spring 2025 by Nicole Brumback. It is an extension of her thesis "Crowned with the Wreath of Citizenship": Race, Regionalism and the Suffrage Movement in Maryland. It is created under the supervision of Dr. Kara French, Professor of Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Kathyrn Prinkey, Curator at the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture.
